Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
I've worked with couples facing these kinds of struggles. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come in. That's part of what we'll work on together.
Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
I've worked with couples facing these kinds of struggles. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come in. That's part of what we'll work on together.
Your Relationship Can Feel Different
Most struggling couples aren't dealing with just one problem. They've gotten caught in a pattern.
One pushes for a conversation. The other shuts down. One becomes critical. The other gets defensive. Hurt turns into anger. Anger creates distance. Before long, even small disagreements can bring up years of frustration.
Couples counseling gives us a place to slow that pattern down.
We'll work together to understand what's happening underneath your conflicts, help each of you feel heard, and develop practical ways to communicate, repair hurts, rebuild trust, and reconnect.
The goal isn't to determine who's the bad guy.
The goal is to understand what's happening between you - and learn how to do it differently.
What Can We Work On Together?
Communication & Conflict
Learn to talk about difficult things without conversations repeatedly turning into criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, or another blowup.
Emotional Disconnection
Understand how you drifted apart and begin rebuilding friendship, affection, admiration, and emotional closeness.
Trust & Betrayal
Work through affairs, pornography, secrecy, dishonesty, or other breaches of trust and determine what rebuilding can look like.
Sex & Intimacy
Create healthier conversations around affection, desire, rejection, expectations, vulnerability, and sexual connection.
Parenting & Family Stress
Work together more effectively when parenting, extended family, work, finances, or other pressures are creating division.
Marriage Enrichment
Counseling doesn't have to be a last resort. Some couples simply want to understand each other better and build an even stronger marriage.
Looking for Christian Marriage Counseling?
For Christian couples, faith is often an important part of how you understand marriage, forgiveness, commitment, intimacy, and healing. I'm glad to make room for that in counseling.
In addition to my clinical training, I have biblical and theological training. That allows us to take your faith seriously while also drawing from sound approaches to couples therapy.
Faith integration is available when you want it. It isn't something I force on couples.
What Happens When We Get Started?
You don't need to show up knowing exactly how to explain everything that's wrong.
During our first sessions, I'll work to understand your relationship, what brought you to counseling, the patterns you've gotten stuck in, and what each of you hopes will change.
From there, we'll identify the areas that need our attention and begin working on them together.
Depending on your needs, that may include learning how to have difficult conversations differently, repairing past hurts, rebuilding trust, increasing emotional or physical intimacy, strengthening your friendship, or learning how to understand and respond to each other in healthier ways.
This is active couples counseling. I want you to leave sessions with a better understanding of your relationship and practical things you can begin doing differently outside my office.

Couples Counseling That's Practical, Personal, and Research-Informed
I help couples understand what's keeping them stuck and learn healthier ways of communicating, connecting, and working through conflict.
I don't believe couples need a therapist who simply watches them argue for an hour. My role is to help you recognize the patterns that are hurting your relationship, understand what's happening underneath them, and practice healthier ways of responding to each other.
My work with couples draws heavily from two respected approaches to couples therapy:
The Gottman Method
Practical tools for strengthening friendship, communication, conflict, trust, intimacy, and connection.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Helping couples understand the deeper emotions and attachment needs underneath conflict and disconnection.
We'll use what is most helpful for your relationship rather than forcing your marriage into a one-size-fits-all approach.

Common Questions About Couples Counseling
You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone
If your relationship has been stuck in the same patterns, waiting usually doesn't make those patterns disappear.
You don't need to know whether counseling will fix everything. You don't even need to know exactly what needs to change.
You just need a place to start.
